Nanoha Takamachi est une écolière ordinaire, mais alors qu'elle rentre de l'école avec ses deux amies une voix l'appelle à l'aide. Nanoha va sauver une belette qui se trouve être un sorcier à la recherche des Jewel Seeds. Elle décide alors d'aider ce sorcier, et va faire la rencontre de Fate Testarossa également à la recherche de ces fameuses pierres. Très chouette animé, à première vue on pourrait lui trouver beaucoup de ressemblance à Card Captor Sakura, mais il n'a absolument rien a voir... les combats sont plus dynamiques, et l'histoire légèrement plus adulte.
